On Friday Callie and I took the kids to the Homecoming parade and that evening we all went to the football game. Ethan was so excited to be there he didn't want to leave.

My Day So Far...

My day started when Ethan crawled into bed asking "Mom, when are you gonna wake up?" My reply was "How can it be morning so fast?"
I didn't expect an answer, I was mostly complaining and not wanting to leave the comfort of my bed, so I was surprised when Ethan replied "Because Jesus made it that way." He then got a stern look on his face and started shaking his index finger while continuing in a mean voice-"Heavenly Father said 'Jesus, you make the morning come fast'."
I reluctantly rolled out of bed while Ethan was giving his explaination of how things went down when sunrises and mornings were created but I crinkled my brow and said "Heavenly Father probably spoke nicely to Jesus, don't you think?"
Ethan nodded and said "Yeah, probably." And moved on to more pressing matters like when was I going to get him breakfast and that he wanted to watch cartoons.
So Ethan watched Curious George and ate while I made Jeff's lunch and sent him off to work. Kamden decided to join the land of the living not long after and he, as always, was ready to eat. I started to get him dressed but only got as far as changing his diaper and taking off his pajama bottoms before he was off and running.
The drywall-texture-guy (is there a more technical name for that occupation?) finished the few spots upstairs (Brian, I'm sad to say that the 'sky light' you added to Ethan's room is officially covered with sheetrock, texture, and paint and hopefully nobody's knee will be going through the ceiling anytime soon:) so I got out the gallon of paint, a roller, and a brush and set to work. Have you ever tried painting anything with two kids under the age of four? There is no distracting them, no matter what form of bribary you attempt. All they are interested in is the paint and 'helping'. I let Ethan help with the corners and did a pretty good job of keeping Kamden out of the paint. There are only two small spots on the carpet and I got them cleaned up enough so that it's not too noticable.
I think it was after 11 by the time I finally got a shower and Ethan decided that would be a good time to get out a new bag of potato chips and share them with his brother. They were E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E. Smashed into the carpet in my bedroom.
Oh, and going back to the fact that Kamden didn't have any pants on, only a diaper. Two-year-olds find it pretty amusing to rip their diaper off and mark their territory. Enough said.
So that was basically my day and we somehow managed to get both boys showered and fully dressed, drop off papers to the realtor, get the oil changed in the car, did two loads of laundry, and made a trip to the Library. It's now 3:30 and the beasts, I mean boys, will be up from their naps soon. You never really appreciate the sound of silence until after you've become a mother...

Catching Up...

I haven't posted in awhile so here are several things we've been up to. In addition to the following posts we've been busy freezing corn and getting Ethan adjusted to preschool. Last Sunday we had Jeff's parents over for dinner since they were in town and catching a flight the next morning. Wade, Lauren, Brian, and Sierra came also. Last week Keri and her adorable little boy came to see our house. I've known Keri practically forever and we hadn't seen each other since we graduated over 7 years ago and it was nice to catch up. And thanks for the bread, Keri, it was yummy!
So here's a little of what's been going on around here...

Art In The Park

Last Saturday we went to Art in the Park and saw a giant popcorn popper, got blue snow cones, and watched this guy perform before having dinner at Red Lobster with Brody, Callie, Elisa, Brian, and Sierra where Callie was serenaded by the waiter for her birthday.

Chicken McNugget Express

Last week we went to McDonalds and the boys got Happy Meals. On Wednesday while Ethan was at preschool, Kamden saw the leftover chicken in the fridge and wanted it. He didn't eat much of it though, instead he thought it made better cargo for the train car to haul after he tore the chicken into tiny pieces.

Jeff talked me into joining him and the boys on the golf course here in town. I didn't play but I drove the golf cart which, in my opinion, is more fun anyway. My brother Jeff and our friend Joe played also and Ethan took his clubs too. Since his daddy has a glove he wears while golfing, Ethan insisted on taking one of his blue gardening gloves that I got him at Target this spring for $1. I'm not sure if it improved his game or not, but he's got quite the swing!



Of course we had to have some rocks along for the ride!

Yesterday we drove to the Air Force Base and watched the air show. Ethan's favorite parts were "watching the helicopters, going in the big airplanes, on the big slide, and seeing the big airplane up in the sky".
It was really loud, Kamden got scared every time the jets would fly by and I didn't think to bring earplugs but thankfully a woman gave us some when she saw how scared Kamden was. He had fun though and kept yelling "Aiwpain!"
There were big bouncy slides for the kids and small private planes that you could look in and some you could sit in. Forklifts and trucks you could climb on and huge airplanes you could go inside. Ethan loved riding in the shuttle bus from the car to the air show and we had a picnic in the park on the way home.

So Long, Summer...

Here are some favorite moments from our summer, it's hard to believe it's nearly over. This morning it was so cold in our house I actually turned on the heater. On a side note-Kamden is officially off the bottle and it was really surprising how easy it was this time around. He must have just been ready because we'd tried several times before and he just wasn't going for it. Now, onto the next challenge of moving from the crib to the toddler bed...
