The Feast of 2010

I had a lot of fun hosting Thanksgiving this year and enjoyed spending the day with family. The day before Thanksgiving I made 9 pies: Peach, Cherry, Apple, Chocolate, Banana, Coconut, Lemon, Pumpkin, and Blackberry. We had quite the feast with LOTS of yummy food. Then we relaxed, watched movies, and played games.

Now it's off to the weekend with a few photo shoots, some shopping, and more family time!

Cannibal

Today at the grocery store the boys picked out a Lunchable to eat on the way home. Since Kamden has been adamant about not eating turkey on Thanksgiving because "that's gross", I asked the boys what kind of meat they were eating with their cheese and crackers. Kamden didn't have an answer but Ethan asked if they were eating "people meat".
Kamden was glad to learn that it was turkey!

BiRtHdAy OvErLoAd...

November is always the begining of the craziness for us. Right after Halloween, our family jumps right into celbrating birthdays with Jeff's on November 3rd and Kamden's on the 10th. Mixed in with birthdays, our anniversary is November 21st and then Thanksgiving.  December is just as hectic with my birthday on the 15th, Christmas, and Ethan's birthday on the 27th. Poor Owen is stuck all the way in July all by himself.
This year for Jeff's birthday we had friends and family over to watch the BSU game so, obviously, the cake had to fit the party. I tried a new marshmallow fondant recipe (thanks Kalia!) and it turned out pretty good:
Jeff is getting too old, so he needed Kamden's help with blowing out the candles :)
Owen really enjoyed the cake!
After Jeff's party we got to go celebrate our friend, Elisa's birthday. She really enjoyed the awesome Mickey Mouse cake her mom made!
And then 4 days after that we celebrated Kamden's 4th birthday. At first he had asked for a Triceratops cake with "Long, long horns that go all the way upstairs to Owen's room and back to the TV room" but I wasn't sure how I was going to pull that one off, and we did a dinosaur last year, so this year we went with...a caterpillar!
He loved it and while he was helping me make it he kept giving me hugs and saying "It's perfect!"
Here he is with the much anticipated and desired "rat babies" he asked for:
And this awesome tractor that opens up to hold all of his treasures. He loves packing thigs around with him...
Owen kept stealing the candy from the birthday table...
The "thrilled" birthday boy...we take birthdays very seriously around here...
Making his wish:
And what better way to end a celebration than with a stylish and festive {clean} underwear hat?!
Thanks to everyone who has helped us celebrate! Now...on to THANKSGIVING!

Happy Birthday Kamden!

It's hard to believe it's been 4 years since Kamden joined our family, but it's impossible to imagine life without him. He is so funny and here are some of the things he's said lately that have made me laugh:

When we were riding in the car, Owen was being extra noisy. Kamden decided he'd had enough so he yelled "Stop! Stop it! You are going to make my brain fall out!"

Yesterday Ethan & Kamden were playing doctor and Kamden put on some winter gloves. Then he told me he needed to check my heart. He put his hand on my stomach and stood there for a minute, then said..."I think your heart is gone. It's not in there no more." He quickly moved on with the examination and asked to see my arm and told me "I need to cut the baby out of your arm." (Just so there is no confusion, there isn't a baby inside my arm or anywhere else.)

When he goes number 2 he yells until Jeff or I come help him (or Uncle Wade, but only at Uncle Wade's house:) Today he got off the toilet and asked if it was a big one...then he looked and said "Nope. It's not a big one. It looks like a dragon. That's because it's dragon poop."

About 2 weeks ago Kamden decided that the only thing he wanted to be called was "Babe". If I call him anything else he says "I'm not _____________, I'm BABE!" I have no idea where he came up with being called Babe. And a few days ago he decided he was "Birthday Babe" and if he gets in trouble he asks in a really sad voice "Am I still your Birthday Babe?"

Some fun facts about Kamden:
Out of 3 pregnancies, he is the only one I wasn't sick with. I only felt mildly nauseous for about 2 weeks but with the other two I practically lived on the couch and just about everything I ate came back up.

He loves animals and bugs. The other day we were raking leaves and I found a FAT worm. Kamden ran right over and picked it up and said "aw, it's so tute!" (cute) he can't wait for the day when mom and dad finally give in and get a dog for our family, but until then he enjoys playing with Grandpa Van Leuven's dog, Bear, Uncle Jeff's dog, Jackson, and Uncle Wade & Aunt Lauren's dog, Sadie. He also loves Aunt Shelly and Kelsey's cats, Princess Fionaand Ricky Bobby.

His favorite toys are dinosaurs and cars. He can play for hours on his own and be perfectly content. He has a creative imagination and some of the conversations I overhear him having with his toys are pretty hilarious.

Speaking if his imagination, Kamden is constantly telling me about the "dreams" he has. I don't think they are actually things he really dreamt about, but if we see a dog walking down the street, he will tell us "I had a dream about a dog one time... " and tell us all about the things the dog did in the dream. He comes up with some crazy adventures!

He doesn't like to eat meat unless it's chicken...so, every type of meat we eat is referred to as "chicken".

He is a good helper (even though it usually takes being asked several times) but he does a good job and most mornings he makes his bed on his own without being asked.

His first and true love (after his momma, of corse) is FOOD! He LOVES to eat! I can't think of anything that would be his favorite food, because he likes just about everything...when I ask him what his favorite food is, he whispered in my ear "Candy..."

One of his great talents is dancing. Ever since he was a baby he has loved music and has gotten really good at "shaking it".

His nickname is "Beast" and we don't call him that for nothin'. He really can be a beast sometimes, but we still love him and we are so thankful to have him in our family!

3. He once played the recorder for a family talent show.
 4. Back in the day, he was quite the soccer star.
5. One of his favorite sports to play and watch is football. He was a Quarterback in High School.
6. He tried his hand at the high jump, though if you ask him, he will tell you that track and field don't qualify as a sport...I beg to differ.

 9. He is an awesome basketball player and has enjoyed coaching the Young Men in our ward.
 10. He is an Eagle Scout.
 11. He likes to water ski, wake board, and knee board. Once he had the not-so-brilliant idea to knee board in a canal while someone pulled him behind a suburban on the bank. It didn't work out so well when he slammed into a bridge and ended up in the hospital.
12. In High School he earned quite a few awards in sports...here he received #1 male golfer.
 13. He graduated High School in 2000...his dad still had a sweet 'stache...
14. After High School he worked on a sod farm with his good friend, Aaron...
 15. Look how cute he is with his curly hair...now everyone can know where Kamden gets it from!

22.Then he came home from his mission and met ME! Of course it was love at first sight and we were engaged 4 months later...

 23. 3 months after our engagement, we were married in Logan, Utah. The first thing he said to me when he saw me on our wedding day was "Nice dress."
24. On our honeymoon I somehow forgot any shoes except the ones I wore on our wedding day...Jeff let me wear his flip flops (which were way too big for my feet) all over Mexico until we found some to buy.
25. During our reception, his uncle and accomplisses decided to cover our vehicle in sandwich meat, peanut butter, and plastic wrap and then put it up on blocks...I was exhausted so we cleaned it enough to drive, then he dropped me off and he went to the car wash to take care of the mess in the cold November night.
