The boys are both playing soccer this year and the season just started last week. They are on different teams since they are in different age groups, so it's a little hectic getting everyone where they need to be and having to watch two games at the same time.
Kamden has practice on Tuesdays and games on Thursdays, his first game was last night and it was really fun to watch. He has good control of the ball but he doesn't quite grasp the concept of 'teamwork' and when his teammates had the ball he would try to take it from them. If anyone else made a goal he would get really sad and run over to me saying "I can't win, Mom. I can't win." He made several goals and kept the teams waiting when he would run over for a high-five instead of going back to the middle of the field. He keeps telling everyone he is "Super-duper fast" and he is having a great time, he really likes coach Suzie and they play fun games during practice.
Ethan has had two games so far and he plays on Tuesday and Thursday nights with practice on Wednesdays-soccer is running our life right now! But it's only for 3 more weeks and the boys are having fun...except for the two times that Ethan has gotten hit in the face with the ball. The first time was on Tuesday during their game when one of the kids kicked the ball really hard and it hit another kid's shin guard, bounced off, and smacked Ethan right in the face. The second time happened last night right before their game when one of the more aggressive kids on the team kicked the ball David Beckham style and it connected with Ethan's eye. He wasn't too sure about playing in the game that night, but he did eventually-although he was a bit timid and didn't spend much time near the soccer ball. He was content to keep his distance and sort of jog/skip around the field.
So if you'd like to join us, we will be at the island Tuesday nights for Ethan's games at 6:00 and Thursday nights for both of their games at 6:00. Hopefully Ethan's face doesn't take any more hits...
