As we were unloading our car on Monday night, I asked Jeff what that noise was I heard coming near the back porch. He paused and listened for a moment before responding, "Oh, crap." Then he found some tools, walked over to the noise, and soon the noise stopped. Our pipes had frozen while we were gone and one of the outside faucets had burst. Great. Another reason for me to wish it were June and we could put our house on the market. If that weren't enough, the pipes were frozen on Tuesday morning and Jeff went under the house with a blow dryer to thaw them out. It didn't take long for the water to start running again but on Wednesday morning, we found ourselves in the same predicament. There was no running water in the house at all; no washing machine, no dishwasher, no showers. Nothing. And we didn't get water until around four in the afternoon when Jeff came home from work and spent quite a bit of time under the house trying to figure things out. Finally, we started getting water except in the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink, which means I still can't run my dishwasher. Today I am thankful for modern convieniences like washing machines, dishwashers, and basic indoor plumbing. You really don't appreciate things like that until you go a few days without them! This morning Jeff woke up early and turned a small heater on that he'd put under the house so the pipes would thaw out in time for him to get a shower before work. When he gets home tonight, he'll return to the cramped, spider-infested underground to insullate the pipes. Owning a home is a blessing, but it's not always fun!

Oh my heck, I'm so sorry you guys. What a pain. It's true though, sometimes those things just have to happen so that you are grateful for them. Our's did that growing up all the time in the winter, my dad said to always leave a trinkle of water on, on one of your faucets, maybe that will help who knows. Best of luck, hopefully you get water soon.
